Madea

This picture is truly something. Madea can make anyone feel better if you're having a bad day. Tyler Perry's A Madea Christmas is set to come out on Friday Dec 13.
Tyler Perry is truly a wonderful and creative writer and  person all together. Along with some of my other favorite movies from him such as Diary of a Mad Black Woman, Madea Goes to Jail, and this years' Christmas movie.

The Homestretch

Hey. So it's finals week. Yeah, I said it.
For students in College and University this is the final homestretch before we get to go home and relax with our family. Assignments were turned in last week, exams are taken this week. What you did you did, and what you didn't do, oh well, at this point.

With this being said, I feel that each semester gets better as it comes. In other words, my cognitive skills improve, as well as my communication and organizational skills.

I never understood the point of this drawn face, I do remember it started in 2012 with " I vote, y u no vote?"

This is year #3 in college, and school never seems to end. But thankfully we are all still here, working towards that ultimate goal that every  one wants to achieve. Like the movie What Dreams May Come, your dreams truly are what you make them.

Polka Dot Nails2

As a fan of nails and nail polish, its time for another of of Dolo's nail tutorials.

All you will need is:

Nail Polish- pink, black, white
Toothpick
Clear Polish
Mini fan (that's right a mini fan to dry them!)

Now with clean hands and polish free nails, begin to paint your bases with pink and white.
Carefully with a tooth pick, dip it in black polish and make polka dots on 6 of your nails. (paint one yes, one no, or whichever alternating pattern you'd like)

Now on the nails which you did not put polka dots, take the tooth pick and dip it in polish, and carefully make lines like a zebra, or straight lines (which ever one is easier).

Beer or Soup?

I saw this flick as I was scrolling through my news feed, and when I saw it I could not help but to literally laugh out loud. This is not only a great form of advertising, but something relative to consumers of all ages. Ode to the soup, beer drinkers, and comedy.

What is your favorite kind of soup?

What is your favorite kind of beer?

Edna Mode.

Edna.
A timeless name bestowed upon by beautiful little niece. Low key, I always wanted someone to share my old lady name. Then my cousin had a baby and named her Edna. As she's grown up, she knows me, fights with me, that's how I know she loves me. On top of that, she is a DIVA 100%.
I do not know where she got all this sass, like they say, she got it from her momma I guess ...

:D

Our Women

Today, December 9th marks the one year anniversary of the tragic death of Norteño Music star Jenni Rivera. I know it's been a year later, and many people don' t know it-not only was she talented, but she was also an advocate for women's rights. She had gone through alot in the first half of her life, starting with becoming a mom at the age of 15. Like all people, her skin was toughened through the years, and she. She finally found herself in music, with the help of her musical family of course. One of my favorite songs is Chuperamigos, along with Dama Divina. She really talks about self acceptance and loving oneself, and really saying that no matter what, time will pass and everything will be okay.
God bless her soul. And women.
On second thought. Some Disney humor...

Thanksgiving is next week

Folks, the eating season is upon us.
This means that from now until January, we will be enjoying the famous holiday dishes that we so look forward to all year. (At least I do)

With that being said, I want to suggest a few ways to prep your turkey!

In El Salvador (my mother's home country), on festive occasions, there is a huge array of festive foods which are prepared. A famous way to prepare your turkey is called "pan con chumpe."

This way, the turkey is prepared in a stew-form. Complete with juice composed of wine, oregano, and vinegar. The next step is you place the cooked shredded turkey in a french roll. Next, you top it with sliced radishes, cucumbers, turkey juice, cabbage, and water cress.

Can you say yum?

Stay tuned for more ideas on turkey prepping!

Radio Fest 2013

Okay so this year, Mt SAC celebrated it's 7th annual Radio Festival. In this, many of Southern California's too hit music stations were guests on the college. The event was organized by Mt SAC's award-winning broadcasting students. The theme was "radio is not dead," and to accompany that, who better than people who are un-dead? That's right: zombies!
So the students of the program dressed up as zombies and put on a great event. Even featuring a zombie thriller dance to kick off the event- performed by the students themselves.
Anyway, the whole production was a hit. Students loved it, staff loved it, visitors loved it. Hats off to the Mt. SAC broadcasting program !

Candy carriage

Howdy readers!
Today I want to share a simple and pretty idea that is sure to lighten up any party.
This here is a candy cart.
All you need is:
Table cloth
Bowls for candy
Cupcake holder
Cupcakes
Candy pieces (starburst, licorice)

Put it all together and voilá! You have a yummy and inexpensive candy table!

Pinterest Babyshower

Ok readers, I want to take the time to thank you all for eyes. Consequently, I want to apologize for being off the net for some time now. I am going through a very hard time right now emotionally.
I apologize for my disclosure.
Anyway, this weekend I had the pleasure of attending a baby shower where the whole event looked like an event from "My Fair Wedding" with David Tutera.
It's crazy how one can completely transform a backyard into a baby bliss paradise for a special event. All it took was a spacious backyard, table cloths, center pierces, lights, and of course (since it was a girl) BUTTERFLIES!
So with that being said, here is a picture of the beautiful setting of which I was a part of:
Can you spot the pregnant lady? ;)

Skinny Bitch

Okay so while at the Dripped fashion soirée an trunk show, I ran into some fabulous ladies with a creative name for their line: Skinny Bitch Clothing.
These threads were super cute and modern. They had from contemporary shirts and skirts, to shoes and flats, and clothes with Bart Simpson knitted on it!
The pieces were truly one of a kind with a style all it's own.
The garments have a very straight forward and modern approach, using clean and simple designs along with straight lines.
Here is a flick I got of the designers:

Tacos de papa

When I was little I said there was two things I could live off of:
Potatoes and iced tea

So today I will advise you on the yummiest thing ever. Potato tacos!
All you need is:
-1 or 2 potatoes (depending on how many are eating)
-garlic salt
-pepper
-1/2 of an onion diced (optional, good for flavor though)
-corn or flour tortillas

Now, take the potato, peel it, and wrap in a paper towel. That's right, a paper towel- and microwave it for 2.5-3 mins
Careful it will be hot when you remove it from the microwave!!!

Now, depending on what kind of blender you have, throw the potato in the blender, and shake on the garlic salt and pepper. Also, add the onion at this time. Now blend for 10-15 secs until you have a creamy potato/onion mix.
Place a scoopful in the tortilla and lay on the pan to crisp.

Enjoy with shredded cheese, lettuce, sour cream/avocado

Activate your inner Vape!

Howdy readers!
Okay so surely, you all have caught onto the trend of these vapor pens! As a recovering smoker, I sure have.
Anyway, these pens are vaporizers that create vapor from the "juice" (which is consumable glycerin or vegetable  oil based flavor).
These juices come in all flavors and even with nicotine for those trying to overcome their cigarette addiction.
There are tons of intimidating factors which can come into play when deciding to shop for a vape pen.

How do you know it will work for you?
How do you know you're getting a good deal?
Well, a good vape pen can run you from $40-$75, depending on where you shop.
But all in all, if smoking is your thing, here is a way to inoffensively toke wherever your little heart desires! (Unless and until someone asks you to stop)
Be mindful of the establishment rules, and courteous to those around you-you never know what commonalities you may find!
Also, a cool vape shop called Activape is located in the city of West Covina, they're super friendly and chill, eager to answer any questions you may have. Check them out on Yelp*!

Trick or treat!

Hi readers today I am going to suggest the best cities in America to do your trick or treating!

Pretty Girl

One of the vendors/designers I met was a young lady named Laura (left). She was there with her fashionable associates Lena Love Bad (center), and Stephanie Shaw (right).
These ladies had a wicked style; it was like pastel my little pony meets LA chic with a twist of bondage-inspired wear.
These ladies were so amazing and great seamstresses; Laura said her inspiration was always there as far back as she could remember, and sowing her clothes makes her happy, along with her girlfriends.

Dripped

Hey readers! It is L.A. Fashion week, which means fashion shows and exhibits all week long!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of visiting a fashion event titled "Dripped Fashion Soiree and Trunk Show."

All of the designers brought out their best pieces for exhibit and sale.

The variety of this crowd was something which I had never experienced before, it really gave me an insight to a completely different world of which I had no idea.

Many of the styles were vintage inspired, which means high-waisted pants, platform shoes, and arrangements of patterns on both pants and shirts. From floral print to Bart Simpson, now I know there are certainly different genres of clothing as well.

Halloween Goodies!

Lately I have been posting easy do it yourself ideas. This is because of a traumatic experience that happenned one night while I was out. As a consequence of this, I have been staying home more, thus enjoying arts and crafts at home with my family instead of being out on the streets.

With that being said, here is a fun idea for Halloween goodies with fruits and vegetables.

Peeled bananas, cut in half

Give your house keys a new do!!

Ever have trouble distinguishing your house keys?

One Veg World

Okay, so with all the trends that come and go on a seasonal basis, there are some things that just do not stop trending, such as: FOOD!

Now, I am not exactly one to be eager to try new foods, but when hunger calls, anything is appetizing, that is for sure.

With that being said, a restaurant called One Veg World came and dropped off samples to my work.
The restaurant is located in beautiful West Covina, CA and ALL THE FOOD USED IS VEGAN!!
That means, nothing in this restaurant came out of a living/breathing animal!

Do try their bbq chicken wings (not really chicken)
and empanadas.. yummmm!

Dumpling Salad

Howdy! Ever want oriental food, but do not want to spend time in a restaurant?

Well today, we are going to make yummy Dumpling Salad.

All you need is:

  •  1lb of Dumplings (from your local grocery store, Costco ones are good too)
  •  1 head of romaine lettuce
  • 1/2 ripe cucumber
  • 1/2 cup of red peppers
  • 1/2 cup of tomatoes
  • 1/2 head of broccoli
  • 1/2 cup of shredded carrots
First, warm up the dumplings in either a conventional oven, microwave, or on the stove. They should already be cooked from the store, but make sure to read the directions on the packaging.

Next, chop up the lettuce and vegetables into a "chop salad" form, which means cut the vegetables and leaves into 1 inch wide squares or strips.

Finally, mix all the ingredients in a bowl and enjoy!

I prefer raw vegetables because that way, they retain all of the nutrients inside. If you boil or steam them, along with cooking the, the vitamins will also evaporate.

Please refer to the photo for an idea of this yummy meal!

The great thing about fall is that you can throw on a black or being scarf on top of any outfit to make it even warmer for those autumn nights.
Luckily black and white truly go with everything, so hopefully today one can embrace these style suggestions.
Cute, warm, and comfortable!

Cleansing drink

Howdy friends!
Tonight over tea I am going to give you a tip for a drink that is both refreshing and delicious!

It consists of:
20 oz of water
Sliced lemons, cucumbers, limes, oranges (mix and match as you please)
A cup
Ice cubes, if desired

Now, throw the fresh fruit into the cup.
Press the fruit down with a wooden spoon, releasing the juices and flavors of the fruit.

Next, put ice if desired, and fill to 3/4 full, mix it around once more, and enjoy!

Putting lemons and limes in your water helps clean out your system in a gentle and natural way with the citric acids.
Also, the water in the cucumbers helps keep your face and skin clear.

They say you are what you eat, so why not be a hydrating, inexpensive and yummy drink?!

For more clarity on how to make this drink, refer to the photo.

Enjoy!
